Bangkok Bank Offering up to 20% off Anti-Virus

Postby KHONDAHM » December 25, 2009, 4:47 pm

Nice! If I didn't already have a long-term AVG subscription, I would take them up on the offer. I've used Kaspersky in the past and it is excellent. Perhaps someone here will be interested.

Dear Bualuang iBanking Member

...blah, blah, blah...

Kaspersky is a provider of antivirus software and is offering Bangkok Bank customers its antivirus software at specially discounted prices – 10% off when purchasing via Kaspersky’s link on the Bangkok Bank website, and a further 10% off if payment is made with a Bangkok Bank credit card or Be1st card – a total saving of 20%. This offer is available until 31 December 2009.

Click on the link at the Bualuang iBanking page (‘www.bangkokbank.com/ibanking) to go to Kaspersky’s offer.

Virus free for 5 years with Avast. Free......auto updates......no hog.......and no hangups with XP or any of the software I use. I can't say the same for some folks I know who have used AVG, but whatever works for you!

Careful. As with most things you get what you pay for. ;) AVG also has a free forever version which is the hands down #1 free package installed by IT pros on networks.

Kaspersky consistently ranks very high (usually #1) on almost every review and independent testing. I haven't ever seen Avast ranked in the top 5 of any review. Not saying it is not good. It is. But there are better products out there which will catch more bugs:

http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/

These rankings change year-to-year but usually not more than 3 or so rankings in either direction for any single product. While this is not the ONLY review ranking out there, I have always found the site to be the most reliable.

The only reason I switched from Kaspersky to AVG is because it was too good. Fine for me, but confused the wife and daughter who would just click ok to EVERY prompt on their respective laptops. The AVG 3-pack license is perfect for me and my family. Norton is too much of a resource hog. AVG is light and truly operates in the background where it belongs and includes a predefined and constantly updated "safe" software list. So, when auto updates or upgrades are applied/installed for just about any software including obscure games and such, AVG does a bit check comparison it to its database and can automatically recognize the new executable as safe without prompting. At the same time, I have all of the advanced rule making ability I had with Kaspersky.

Just my song-baht. Cheers! ;)

HSBC offer McCafee (latest version) for free to anyone using internet banking with them.
Sounds like a good deal for HSBC - after all they have a lot more to lose if virus infected customers are logging onto their mainframe than 'Joe Bloggs" who is infected & does not know.... :D :D

Sweet deal. I like McAfee, but hate their customer service. They double charged me for a renewal license and refused to give me a refund a while back. I finally got a refund for one and then canceled the remaining subscription. I told them to keep the money (they did not want to refund it, anyway) and switched to Kaspersky. Very bad customer experience.

Happy using Kaspersky, but if you want free AV you can also have a look at Panda Cloud Antivirus (haven't tried it myself). http://www.cloudantivirus.com/en/

Downside could be that it works in the cloud, so you need a permanent internet connection.
