Blue ray player

Postby Peterplay » March 21, 2010, 3:18 pm

Unfortunately I had to spend the last 2 months in Europe. The good thing is that I was able to buy some blue ray disks here and I would like to buy some more.
Until now I've never looked at blue ray players in Udon, hence my question : can anybody tell me if blue ray players of a reasonable quality are easily available in Udon ?

I would like to purchase one with a usb connection so that I can play mov files and avchd/mts files (still with me ?).

Here they are availlable for about 230 euro's, about 10.000 baht (what's happening with my poor euro... :( ).

Just be careful as most Blueray players and discs are Region encoded....therefore if you try and watch the bluerays bought in europe on a blueray player bought in thailand you will have problems.

However not all blueray players are encoded and even the ones that are can be hacked by downloading new software (if you can be arsed and now how to do it.)

There is a list somewhere available that tells you which brand of players and which movie studio's use the encoding.

Apart from that the quality is fantastic is watched on a good TV.

Thanks Deankham, that is useful input, didn't think about that one. I expect they sell regionfree blue ray players in Udon or Bkk.
And yes they're awsome on HD tv.

Same for my jpg foto's and my video's, like watching colour slides !

I use my notebook with HDMI out for playback. Thanks to AnyDVD HD (just Google) I do not have any problems with region codes, or other nonsense.

I order my blu rays from amazon usa. Same region in there as in Thailand. I saw some Philips blu ray player in Carrefour and Homepro, the price was 9900 (or 9990, don't remember) in both places. So far I have been using Playstation3 to watch. Do they even sell any Blu ray movies in here? I haven't seen any. I guess people still watching VCD since they are cheap. \:D/
