British Government Advice

Postby douglas » April 27, 2010, 1:13 pm

Hi,
Last night 26/04/2010 the British Gov. advised all its citizens not to travel to Thailand. Not just BKK. Due to the increase in violence.
Cheers Doug.

I can't understand your comment TB, I know I may be a little biased, but of all the nationalities that pass through my doors, the brits are top - manners, politeness, friendliness, and even their relationships seem more solid. You're not by any chance hanging out at that D&N complex too much, it's a different class of person that frequents that place, I leave it to the tourists (other than pool matches). Try The Sports Bar, always full of Brits getting along just fine, and it seems all the other nationalities that go in there are on the same wave length. Not being a girly bar the gropers & pervs stay away, just good old humour and banter all night long.

Back to topic - it's definitely escalating, apparently highway 2 was hijacked last night, this is really affecting my business, but I still can't help but side with the protesters, any western government would have called for re-elections by now, which goes to show the desperation of the Abasit government to stay in power, they know they will lose.

Quite simple really. I came here to get away from most things British and because I enjoy Thai life so much. I have never been able to understand the mind set of any nationality that spends so much money to travel so far and then as soon as they get where ever they are going, seek out the very things they have just left behind. Which also perhaps answers Glyn.I do not frequent any bars, girlie or not, and I certainly would not go out of my way to find one that offers me anything vaguely reminiscent of the ones I have left behind .

Time to think of an escape plan, I can see this getting nasty.

Glad I did not burn my bridges with Blighty.
I always had that at the back of my mind even before this "trouble" started.

I imagine that is why they have been so brilliant in assisting its citizens stranded by the Iceland visibility issue

Yes Bob, the poor Brits who were stranded at Swampy got most help from the Thai Red Cross. (Food and Drink).

The people who get the most help in Britain are the Muslim Immigrants from Somalia/Pakistan, and bogus asylum seekers.

trubrit, As girlie bars and the likes are not your cup of tea its highly unlikely you'll ever cross paths with the blighters from blighty. So you can take a deep breath and relax. I hope i've added some logic to this post.

best wishes wherever you are.
