Ray,
I surprised that nobody in Thailand sells these tents, considering that most people drive a pickup, and Thailand has so many National parks with campsites.

We bought all our equipment here, you can find it in Lotus ( Udon) and many places within Robinsons. Tents, air mattresses, sleeeping bags, stoves, laterns. ice chests and cooking utensils. Even folding chairs it's here.
If you enjoy family outings or getting away with friend it is a great hobby in the cool season. Most of the parks have toilet facilties and many there are resturants at the location, you go on a long weekend you will not be by yourself. Lots of Thai's do this activity. Most places there are no fees for usage.

It would be great someday to put to gether a camp out for a large group and do a BBQ, the whole nine yards.

That sounds a great idea. As long as I don't have to sleep on a motorcycle or in the back of a pickup truck!!

I have never seen a proper camper shell in Thailand, do they have any here? Camper shells with a small bed(s) reconfigurable, small bathroom/shower, eating/cooking area.
