cataract

My wife has been having problems with her eyes since we got computer in Dec and it finally got bad enough for her to go to a doctor. She went to a popular eye clinic on Phosi Rd, I believe the name is Siriwat, spelling ? She was diagnosed with a cataract in her left eye. 33 years of age is a bit young to have cataract, I think. I have suggested that she go for a second opinion at AEK, that didn't go over to well, got the usual "too expensive". She says one of her friends has had the same surgery at the eye clinic and is fine. Still I am a bit worried. There is a history of genetic eye disease in her family, her 2 older brothers went blind soon after birth but she and her younger brother received eye drops that prevented the blindness. I am sure this worries her a lot.

I don't get home for another 3 weeks and realize that cataract surgery can wait, and probably will have to as she is scared (that admission took some prying on my part), but I would like to know as much as possible about the medical facilities available. If anybody has any experience with eye clinics, esp the one she went to I would appreciate some information about them.

I think you're referring to the clinic at 319/2 Makkaeng Rd, just across from the market. My wife had both eyes done there nearly 3 years ago. She did it through Paolo Hospital......they brought her to the clinic, kept her records, dispensed her medicine, etc. No problems with the doctor or results. But the clinic itself is a madhouse of patients.
I believe now both Paolo and AEK do the procedure themselves....but I'm not sure how the costs compare.
