my reading of the law section 1475 of the Civil and Commerical Code, is that not everything in the wifes name, goes to the wife in a divorce..as the house and land is matrimonial property, I believe a farang can put a case forward and apply for 50% of his share in the house and land upon divorce...only my mere opinion

Unfortunately I'm not so sure it did "Donthani" (David) much good 18 months or so ago.

It probably has a lot to do with the luck of the draw whether the falang gets a fair shake or not.Hope I never have to test it! 8-[

I bought land with my GF of 5 years (not wife) 2 years ago in Udon Thani, 30 Leased it from her through the Land Department. I understand that cannot be done if you're married but as a "Liver in Sin" as myself, a better agreement, or unmarried-prenuptial", I cannot think.

Your understanding is incorrect. I am legally married and have a 30 year lease from the wife.

OT's put his divorce on hold for the time being, the Mrs seems to be in a much better mood lately, probably something to do with the school fees being due this week and the western union.
When I listen to you guys bickering about who gets what when the relationship goes tits up it does make me laugh. My first wife took the lot and I would expect my Thai wife to do the same. OT's not bothered, however, I would like to keep my CD's - that's all.

OT..... \:D/

Quite right OT; as long as she doesn't mess with my wall photos of Thierry Henry and Dai Oratai then I'm a happy man :D
