With the exception of John Smith's in Patters the closest I have come to 'Bitter' was in the Londoner brew pub in Bangkok, although the Tawendaeng in Bangers did a very good golden lager without the 'German' taste.

I still keep wanting to try the brew place in Kohn Khen and see what they have to offer, but they didnt open in the afternoons :( so ended up getting merry in Duncan's bar across the road on Chang :)

Thanks for the responses. I'm a little surprised - I can go to a bar in Kohn Kaen and get Tetleys, you can buy Marstons Pedigree in Chen Chim (at 150 baht a can it certainly isn't cheap but my fridge is stacked with it :D ). I appreciate this isn't quite the same but it's a lot bitter than nothing. Oh well, keeping fingers crossed that one of the go-getters in Udon will experiment in an effort to get additional traffic - just as long as it isn't a French bar
