Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators in Udon?

Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators in Udon?

Are there any farang Ham Radio (Amateur Radio) operators in the Udon area? I have seen 2 vehicles with antennas and call signs in the back windows, but assumed thery were Thai operators.

This site information was updated 15th Dec 2003, so information most likely has been changed.

This site refers to documents needed for validation. It seems that if you already have a license from certain countries that Thailand has agreement with, you can operate in Thailand with some limitations or even obtain a Thai radio operator's license. Depends on the situation and whether you are going to be living and/or working here.

My next door neighbor is an operator (American) and I've helped him with his antenna system a couple times. He's quite active and is 'on the air' daily. I hesitate to post his name and or telephone number but if you want to call me and leave your number I'll give it to him and he can call you back if he wishes. :) My number is 086 145 3322.

Well, at least once a year two Swedish hams visits Khon Kaen on a regular basis.
That woulkd be me (In Khon Kaen right now) SM6UQP - Robert and my good friend
Anders - SM6TJJ also currently i Khon Kaen. We´r both married to a thai girl and visit family
each year.

BTW I´ve the the Khon Kaen APRS club on the internet but is there also a HAM club in the Khon Kaen area?
