Khon Kaen Photos

I've just returned from one of my regular weekend breaks in Khon Kaen. KK is quite a nice city, it has some very good restaurants and trendy bars. There's a nice lake in the center with a 4km walking track and lot's of restaurants around it. On top of the central shopping mall there's huge IT section with cheap computer parts, cd's, laptops etc.

KK has some great nightlife venues, the farang bars are a little unfriendly IMO (maybe wrong place wrong time) but the Thai venues are great. A couple of my favourites are RAD club and Tawang Daeng on the highway. I didn't take my camera out with me in the evening so no night shots unfortunately.

Anyway enough of the talking, here are a couple of photos I took.

Thanks traveller, nice shots. =D>

*Tip, try resizing your photos to 600px width, it makes viewing them easier.

*Tip 2 rather than use the add image to post link (images only stay active for 1 month), upload them to imageshack.us and link to them, this way the image stays live forever, and you can view the full picture on this forum. i.e.

I'm not sure of the name exactly but I've been meaning to stop there for a while. It's exactly 83km's from Udon, take a left immediately before a large bridge which spans a wide river (you can't miss it) or look for the turning just after the King Cobra Village sign, and it's about 200 meters down the road. It's quite a pleasent spot and nice place to take your partner or family. There are lot's of little restaurants and dining huts overlooking the river, all serving the usual stuff and cold beers.

The water is quite clean too if you fancy a paddle or swim.

Great set of photos Lee. My wife and I have enjoyed viewing them this morning over a cup of coffee & tea. It has generated a lot of conversation. We are wondering if the lake seen in the pictures is Piman Lake? We have seen new condominiums advertised for sale in KK on or near Lake Piman and are curious. Thanks again as it is always good to see pictures of Thailand.

Thanks LU, the lake in the shots is called "Bung Kaen Nakhon", it's south of the city near the Khon Kaen museum. To get there drive south past Fairy plaza until you reach a T-junction, turn left and the lake is about 300 meters away. There are plenty of places to park and a nice long walking/running track.

To the right of the top photo you can see the Sofitel Hotel and then the yellow Fairy Plaza sign.

One more shot...
