Looking for a hotel in Khon Kaen

Postby mistel » September 11, 2008, 11:32 pm

Hello udonmap-members!

in just few days I will fly over to Bangkok, then to Udon Thani.
In Udon Thani I found a nice hotel/room in this forum.

This time I want to go down to Khon Kaen & I am looking for a hotel with Wlan in a room or at the reception.
I just found a Sofitel in Kohn Kaen.

Does anybody know another one?
Sofitel might be a good hotel, but it is a little higher than my budget.

Otherweise, could you give me a recommendation wehre I could stay in Khon kaen?

Try looking on http://www.khonkaen.com/

When I went there first it was about 800 Baht per night (3 years ago) in the Kaen Inn. Didn't have wi-fi then... It wasn't important to me. Maybe someone in KK will reply about wi-fi but I either went to the internet cafe in Oasis or used the wi-fi in Mother Ant's coffee shop near my apartment near Fairy Plaza.

There's a couple of options here:

http://www.khonkaenmap.com/Khonkaen_information/Khonkaen_Accommodation

And here's another little list, can't vouch for any though :) also not sure about WiFi

Wanchai Hotel
381/1-3 Sukapiban 2, Ban Phai, Khon Kaen, 40110, Thailand

Europe Guest House
23/5 Nikon Samran Road

Chai Pat Hotel
106/3 Na Muang rd., Muang, Khon Kaen, 40000, Thailand.

Kaen Inn Hotel
56 Klang Muang Road. Amphur Muang. Khon Kaen, 40000

Pajjsin Apartment
54/9 Moo17, Soi Weerawan1, Namuang Rd., Tambon Naimuang, Ampher Muang, Khonkaen, 40000

Good luck :)

We like the Kaen Inn, was about 800 baht with breakfast, and secure car park.
Has a night club downstairs, sing song bar, and in house massage.
Just a stones throw from the bus station. =D>
Don't know about internet connection.

Have just been to konkaenmap.com. A bit of an empty shell, currently, only 3 hotels advertised and only 1 post on accomodation. Now i KNOW why i use Udonmap!

On the budget end of the scale I would recommend Chai Pat Hotel, 106/3 Na Muang rd., Muang, Khon Kaen, 40000, Thailand. They have rooms from 370bt per night with free Wi-Fi. It's a good location too over the road from Oasis Plaza.
If you want a little more luxury try the Kosa, they have rooms from 800bt, the address is 250-252 Srichan Road, Khon Kaen 40000 (Opposite Oasis Plaza).
If you want the best in Khon Kaen stay at the Sofitel address above.

I stayed in Khon Kaen for five nights and found the Khon Kaen Hotel nice. It is a bit pricey compared to the Karin Hotel in Udon Thani at 650 baht a night.

Agree with Lee,
I've stayed at the Kosa in the past....comfortable hotel in the centre of town.
But,by far the best is the Sofitel. They have even got their own micro brewery ! When I stayed there they had buy 1 get 1 free between 4pm and 6pm.
Even if you dont stay there worth going for a beer or two in relaxing surroundings.

The Sofitel buffet is as good as it gets in Thailand! We make the ocassional trip to eat there!Bit pricey relative to what we are used to paying in Thailand, but definitely worth it as a treat ! :D

Thank you for all your informations.
I did not expected to get such a lot of tips in a half day. =D>

After I checked every hotels, I will ging to try with Charoen Thani Princess.
They have a internet und the prise is reasonable with about 1300 bahts/day.

http://www.dusit.com/hotels/thailand/kh ... index.html

I might have a problem with a guest in a room, but I don't want to walk around the city looking for a Internet Cafe with my laptop & files on my back. (20kg!)

I hope I can be afford to stay in Sofitel.

there's a restaurant in the parking area of charoen thani princess, called 'lighthouse', it sucks, the service sucks, and watch you bill. got good reviews from kk.com when out by airport, i wouldn't bother. :D
