As the link states , you need a non immigrant visa ... which visa would be cheaper or better for me , as I married to a Thai and it it makes any difference I have a yellow book .

Thanks again

Roy

In regards to obtaining a license?? If so, a friend obtained a license while on a tourist visa and he also had a yellow book. However, this isn't set in stone, what may have worked for him may not necessarily work for you.

Also, the yellow book will save you from jumping through a few hoops, mainly not being required to have a letter from immigration proving your residency.

I had the pleasure of renewing my car and motorbike licences today my it went as follows.
i arrived about 10 am at the Udonthani land and transport office located about 15 km out on the kkaen rd nice purple building on the right hand side going towards kk.
copy of passport and visa x 2 plus proof of residence x 2 (1 each for car/mbike) , no medical paper req , no photos req.
i did not complete any forms at all just gave my old licences in , i did a reaction test with false gas /brake pedals and a colour blind test then into a tv room to watch how not to drive 1 hour movie ie loads of mangled cars and people saying how sorry they were.
Paid 1,060 bt in return one 5 year car and one 5 year mbike licence of the new credit card style with my ugly mug somehow on there as well.
All in all a lovely day out and a must for the things to do in Udon page in the guide Lee (not really)
job done 3.30 pm . I DID TRY TO REMAIN CALM THRU OUT BUT IT WAS A BLOODY NIGHTMARE. (except for a rather tasty young lady who gave me a glass of water half thru the movie)
