The idea of sending a petition to Immigration sounds a bit strange, but if it works, more power to them.

In my book, a better idea would be to reopen the office in Udon.

Noting wrong with doughnuts in my book!

I would think that sending staff to NUdon from Nong Khai once or twice a week would be easier than sending staff to Kohn Kahen.

By the way, when I was at immigration in Bangkok a week ago, one of the officers told me that I can extend my visa in Nong Kahi. When I protested that I only want to extend in Bangkok, she said "Its ok now."

"Now" as if there was some change. Putting this together with two other facts: From a post on the Khon Kaen forum, it sounds like two weeks ago, Nong Kahi Immigration was visited by some critical eyes from Bangkok Immigration, and when I went to Nong Khai immigration a few days ago, he mentioned that those on the staff who he never got along with were no where to be seen, and there was a new officer whom he had never seen before, makes me think that maybe some people have been shuffled around, maybe making Nong Khai a nice place to do business.

Has anybody been to Nong Khai immigration in the last few days to confirm this?

I just checked: the link works. Here is also a link directly to the English version Duan's Restaurant:
http://www.duans-restaurant.com/index.php?lang=en.

I am not the originator of the petition but I support it. It is a trial. I am interested to see how many will support it. The intention is to send it to the head office in Bangkok.

I was at Nong Khai this morning to apply for 1yr extension based on marriage. Everything went smoothly. The officer who assisted me was easy going and even joked that having so many stamps was making him crazy. I did notice that the officer that sits at the end by window was a bit of a prick. Not just with farang, but Thai as well.

At Nong khai today to follow up on my 1 yr ext. The officer by the window assisted me, he was neither friendly nor unfriendly. He wasn't being an a-hole as previously observed. He even answered a few questions without appearing to be bothered or showing contempt. He even went as far as pointing out when I was required to do my 90 day report. I guess he was having a good day?
