Website re-directs

Technical Questions & Discussions about Computers, IT & electronics.

Wow :D Just spent half an hour running through all those tests mentioned by BB in the above post.

I passed every test with flying colours - the words 'perfect', 'stealth' and 'truestealth' were mentioned on every occasion and the firewall test worked a treat - nothing at all got through. I am relieved to say the least.

I would recommend anyone with half an hour free to try these free tests and see how vulnerable they are on the internet. peace of mind if nothing else.

And still not a single website redirect now for two whole days :)

Woo I feel good na na na - i knew that I would na na na ............ [-o<

I don't - but my wife has a tube of it in the bathroom

Sorry - couldn't resist

No just a boring old plain PC

Currently more protection programmes than actual software - LOL

How come Mac's appear to be immune from all this virus nonsence anyway - whats the secret ?

reason one: with only 3%+ of the market who would want to bother to write something!

reason two: GUI running on top of UNIX plus Apple takes security seriously!

might want to look into Linux!

Are you using Linux Dakoda?

I'm thinking about making the switch, but at this stage know very little about it.

No Linux here. Just Mac OS which runs on top of BSD Unix. Also can run Unix commands / utilities at the terminal level. Sorry know very little about Linux. Its also been too long not using unix commands, that the other day I had to print out my cheat sheet. I would suggest a search for Linux sites, must be a ton of info out there, same for Unix.

You should try PanThip Plaza in Bangkok. There are hundreds of wholesale computer shops in there.

You can also order online from here:

http://www.pantipprice.com/

Pretty good prices and apparently very reliable :)

Building would be easy, selling would be tough, IMHO.

www.advice.co.th
(click on 'price list')

If you have bought anything about computers from a retail shop here look for a sticker on the back/bottom and it will probrably say 'advice'

Almost everyone I know who buys computer components (Including all the shops in udon) buys from here.
Its mail order and u need someone Thai to phone your order through and sort out payment details (you pay at the bank and fax your receipt from the bank to them).
Prices are updated very regularly online and are extremely competitive, usually much better than pantipprice.com

I gave up putting systems together as its much cheaper and less bother to buy a ready made or made to order system. There is a discount for bulk buys at advice and it wasn't worth the trouble of ordering every individual component and then assembling it. The last time I wanted a complete system a few months ago I gave my requirements to a shop in the complex and they quoted me a very reasonable price and included all software I wanted too. Much less hassle than self build.

The choice is yours!

If you want the cd/manual etc. just pay the appropriate retail price at time of ordering.

Its not for me to say what is right and wrong and is personal choice whatever people want to do I guess.

The gamble is of course that if you use an 'unofficial' product and it goes wrong then you have zero comeback - some people are willing to take that gamble some are not.
