I have been buying HP ink cartidge #74 from BD computers for B600 each that does not last long. Any alternatives?

Why not just get the ink refilled, I did it cost 100 baht to get my b/w and colour done.

There is a place in the Robinson Mall 2nd floor back in by the mobile phone places that sell bulk ink cartridges. Cant remeber the price but the cartridges are larger and refillable

Take the empty to the complex (1st floor) and get it refilled for about B100

You can only refill the cartridges 2/3 times then they are US. Best to get the bottles fitted to the side of your printer. Just had mine done and with all the bottles topped up with ink it only cost 800 Baht. You can’t but 2 cartridges for that money.

Hi,
RC. Tried looking for ink for HP.printer, refill type. Usually find quiet easily. Did not want to go into town. Finally got some in the old Tescos this morning 120B for a 100ml bottle. Lasts a while. I do a lot of copying and the ink, this way, works out cheap. Had this black cartridge 6 months now. I refill it at least once a month, and get a new cartridge every year. Works O.K. Take the label of the top of the HP cart. and you will see a small hole, use the hypo supplied with ink and refill. Put a piece off tape over hole and replace. Some ink refills supply this tape and some don't. Also give a bit of a clean with distilled water to the outlet of the cart.
Tried to get the bottles like the have on a Epson printer, shop said they can only do this mod on a Epson, at 1800B. or buy a Epson for 3600B bottles fitted. If you do have this done it is recommended that you use the printer daily' This was two years ago and may have changed by now.

B-Net is two doors down from BD Computer. They refill cartridges at 50 baht a pop. If you've saved some of your older HP cartridges, you might want to try refilling them first.......my old one doesn't have the "date stamp" and I've been able to keep refilling it for a few years.

Refill is the way to go, a lot of computer shops have refill service and you shouldn't pay more than 50bt for black and 60bt for color. I usually get about 6-7 refills out of my cartridges before I have to replace them.

I think they might have because when you check your ink levels, even after having the cartridges refilled, it shows them as being empty. However, I have been only charged 60 baht to have the hp type refilled and they work ok. You soon know when the ink is getting low when you print something and you cant see it on the paper.

They have chips as other posters have said, to indicate ink level. Only difference as O.T. has said is it does not give you the ink level in cart. when refilled. I think for a saving of 600B I myself can live with it.
Jack It does not make refilling more comp. than outlined on this thread. Expose hole under label, on H.P. cart. insert hypo. and fill with ink when you have enough ink in cart. it will come out the top. With practise you will get to know how much ink is takes. I get five or six refills out of a 100ml bottle of ink making it about 20B per. refill.
If you do not keep seal that goes over outlets on cart. you could have a nasty mess when you get home from refilling in shop. H.P. cart. tend to leak a bit when not sealed. from the outlet on the bottom of cart. IMO.

I have my HP cartridges refilled at the shop on the left as you approach Prajak roundabout from Tahan rd. After the Police and before the car battery shop. Baht 110 for 1 black and one colour.

I queried whether HP cartridges have chips or not, because I don't have an HP, and was interested.

However, I do have a Canon, with chipped cartridges, and it certainly makes refilling quite a complex operation. The chip not only reports on ink level, but also virtually "kills" the cartridge once it has been emptied.

"Each HP cartridge carries a computer chip that serves as the intelligence engine of your printing system"


My understanding is that a few years ago, HP programmed the chip to limit the number of refillings. The older cartridges could be refilled over and over.

When it comes time to cash in the chips on my HP3420 (Aug 2002), refillable cartridges will be my priority. I'll seek the advice of a guy like the one at B-Net, as he that's what he does for a living.
