Can any resident udonites advise the facilities at Suka Saem Estate. More so in the aspect of community facilities and as to whether it is a reasonable area to live with houses holding their value?. Thanks in advance.

When i first came to Udon i lived in mates house in Suka Saem 1 for a couple of months found the place very nice a bit dated facility wise but safe and great for my son , we have quite a lot of customers from SS come in the shop not a bad one amongst em very nice people (yes even you Ron).
I cant comment on the houses ref investment but the only downsIde i found was dealing with the fruitcake that was Violet (the land owner) what an evil sod she was always trying to screw everyone - tried to do me on a deposit for a water meter and reconnection of an electric meter that was never disconnected , lots of residents have had issues with her.

As with many estates Sukasaem (SS ) has its problems not least the owner of the estate with her ways and means . It is a place where many foreigners do live and hve ever since I came here to Udon, it is on the good side of Udon close to main road which leads directily into town.( No traffic lights)approx 5-7 kms from Udon on the main road as I have said to Nonghan/Sakon Nakhon.
It has some advantages, on slightly higher ground than some estates nearer to Udon does have cleaner air, local services such a the local school is good gfor youngsters and is now trying to teach up to 15 yr olds as well. it has a reasonably good health clinic a. the school and clinic are based in Nongnakham about 1-2 knms from Sukasaem.

House prices, well as for keeping the price, as with many things that is a moveable feast, the original SS is now looking dated although there are still good properties to acquire, SS2 has new designes and a more open aspect to houses as for any future developement, I am afraid i cannot comment. There is building going on prices and the like I am not sure about . It is an estate that you definitely need to own transport for.

I take issue with yr comment about clean air KP, SS1 is located right next to a garbage recycling factory, the smell emanating from that can unpleasant at times as well there is a cassava processing place that at times produces a white powder that covers everything, clogs up AC units as well, covering the inside of the house in a white fine powder.
The water supplied is undrinkable even after boiling, I have little choice but I don't even like to shower in it.
On the other hand the residents are a fine bunch of guys, everybody get on well, Thai and Farang alike.
The local school is a Government school, so don't expect a high standard of education but almost every body with kids takes them into the city schools.
The developer is, a well what can you say? but if you come out with all your fingers intact after any sort of a deal, you have done well.
In both SS1 & 2 there are plenty of abandoned or never lived in houses due in the main to bank repossessions and failed relation ships, so some really good bargains on second hand places are available, for that reason no much if any potential for price appreciation.
Overall its a decent place to live, but mainly for me anyway due to the good folks who tend to reside here.

The comment about clean air was general one in relation to town living, I knew that the garbage recycling was near there also another couple of smelly workplaces that is why I did not buy on SS.Apart from having to do any sort of business with the owner who makes Fagin look angelic.
