I was nearly tempted to pop in today but the roadworks seem to start just outside your place and wondered how long will it be dusty and smelly.
Any clues,Librarian?

Hi Pompui ,

yes you are correct , there are roadworks again in Soi Adulyadet .

they are laying at a fast pace and i would guess within a couple weeks they would have reached the bottom of the Soi ( Chern Chim end ) and maybe finally finished !

the reason for the roadworks is , the pipes that were laid recently in the street , were not compacted properly , causing a crack nearly all the way from top to bottom of Soi Adulyadet .

you say how long will it be dusty and smelly ?
well , i cant say i,ve noticed any smell so i am not sure what you mean .
dusty .. yes probably .. luckily the government seem to be doing a great job with hosing down the newly laid stretch of concrete .

we have recently purchased some nice indoor furniture , tables/chairs etc so customers can now sit inside if they do not want to enjoy our nice courtyard setting

I really want to get hold of the following title, and not a second hand copy:

Sunaree Ratchasima (alternate spellings, Sunaree Rachesima, Sunaree Rachaseema) autobiography, Metro Publishing, ISBN 978-974-06-8792-4, in Thai.

Do you have it?

Hi Tilokarat -

sorry i dont have that title .
i believe Asia Books have an online ordering system . if not , someone like Amazon probably would be able to obtain it for you .
as a final resort , you could also contact the publisher direct . i just did a quick Google of metro publishing and there are quite a few pages relating to the company.

Goodluck in your hunt and sorry i cant help more this time

Hi Librarian

The Suday lunch sounds fantastic ! I must admit that is the ONLY thing I really miss about England ,, as much as I like Thai food every now and again a drop of gravy around the veg works wonders . Having said that I am so lucky as my missus has developed a method to cook me the best roast spuds Ive ever tasted. IF you serve it all on HOT plates your there bingo ! Will come in for sure next time were over . Cheers and good luck with it all

come dine with us on Sunday 25th April at The Bookhouse & Coffee Shop

The BookHouse traditional English Sunday Roast Dinner

Roast Beef and Yorkshire Puddings
Roast and Mashed Potatoes
Peas , Carrots , Cabbage and Broccoli
Stuffing and a rich Gravy
and of course horseradish sauce !

and for a limited number of weeks ---- including either a bottled beer or soft drink !

just 195baht :D

after the 1st successful Sunday Roast Dinner last week ( which was Pork and Apple Sauce ) sold out ( tho we only prepared 15 servings ) we had some complaints :(

the complaints were there was just too much food ! and many people couldnt manage the apple pie and ice cream dessert .
we have decided to stop including the dessert in the 195baht price tag and give a drink instead .
the drink is a choice from one of our many bottled beers including , San Mig , Heineken , Leo , Chang , Tiger etc etc
or a coffee , iced coffee , pepsi , fanta etc etc .
we will prepare 20 servings this week - when its gone its gone ! so either book in advance or dont come too late on Sunday !! :D

on a final note - the beef - we now buy our beef joints from the local Thai / France outlet .. while not the cheapest , its probably the best beef supplier in Udon

see you Sunday !

Well done Librarian ,,,,, I think you are proving what I have allways wondered ,,,, there is indeed a good market for that type of food ,alltough I will lay folding money with you that no Thais are eating it ,,,,,,,( because we are Thai and we allways eat this that and the other covered in spice etc . ) which is a great shame because if they gave it a go I am sure ( some ) of them would quite enjoy it. Of course my missus loves her som tum etc ( as indeed I do ) she will also wolf down a good unday roast with all the trimmings.
Good luck mate we will visit for sure next time were over , and hopefully when I,m retired will become a regular, cheers
