Where can I buy a red shirt?

Postby michaleo » April 14, 2010, 11:15 am

As a souvenir for my friends I would like to buy a red shirt like this one. The boy who wears it said that he got it in Udon Thani, he told me an adresse but I didn't understand him well.

Does anyone know if they are for sale and where I can buy it?

They are available from Radio Udon 97.5 office at Nong Lek which is located not far from Nong Bua lake . A small donation may be expected .
This one is also available.(modelled by my son)

I have great hope the elitist unelected government in Bangkok will be overthrown.

My hope, however, is eclipsed by reality.

This government doesn't give a damn about the common man.

Farangs, in my opinion, have no dog in this fight and are better off supporting their neighbors, family.

So just out of curiosity, Tex.

The mid-terms are due in the US in November. If 30 or 40,000 Tea Party member camped out in Washington during the next 2-3 weeks, demanding the elections be bought forward, would you support that?

ps please don't throw the "unelected" untruth into this discussion, unless you want to display abject ignorance about the Thai parliamentary system.

Sent my mate (who lives in UT) to get one for me, he couldn't find the place  Any chance if "idiot proof" directions please? As it looks like I'll be flying Thursday after all, I might have to go looking for this place myself.
(Though if I do, my mates supplies of Ringtons Tea, Oxo's and Pontefract Cakes that I bring him from the UK might go missing ) :-"

Hi Mally. Have never been there myself so not sure on directions, and my wife , like most Thais, is hopeless at explaining how to get there . I am going to go with her today, so hopefully will be able to post directions later. The only bit I have understood so far is, turn right near Global House. :-"
Whilst writing though ,it may be of interest for those going, or in Bangkok to know . In the area outside the old World trade center, they have established a complete Red market. You can get many items as souvenirs all naturally with a red theme and at cheap prices. Those red clapping feet for example, are only 20bht. Don't ask me what you would do with them in England though , unless you are a Man U supporter .

My suggestion would be to send an email to Thaksin - after all, he has bought thousands of red shirts over the past year or so. :D

Thanks guys for the nice comments on my step son. Yes I think he will be a heart breaker, just like his Mum .
Now back on subject. To get to the red radio station you go down the very small soi mmediately adjoining Home Mart, left side looking from the front . If your coming from the old Tesco way you are faced with either doing a Thai and going the wrong way from the U turn or going all the way to the next traffic lights .I'm not saying, the boss was driving .But unfortunately they are sold out, just have jackets and the VCD of the army shooting left .However they do have a small shop at Nong Sim park. Its on the left at the first bend after the railway crossing coming from the lights at global House .They have also sold out of T shirts, expecting another delivery tomorrow, but they do have a fine selection of sports shirts, same as the one my kid is modelling and as in the further photos attached .
The radio station have a sort of museum there with M16 cartridges and "rubber'bullets on display collected after the army fired on its own citizens last week . An amazing lot of photos that you won't see in the Bangkok Post either . [-X
Its telling me I can't add the extension Ink? so will try the photos seperately .

Thanks for that very condensed version of what happened last week in Bangkok, Val.

Do they have any photos of the citizens that were apparently hit from behind their own lines ie "friendly" (or perhaps not so friendly) fire; of the "men in black" moving freely and sniping from within the red areas; of the smoke grenade, and then real grenade that took out the commander of the Army forces very early in the piece?

I read somewhere that something like 250 of the army forces were wounded by rubber bullets - perhaps these are the bullets they have on display.

Do they have photos of the unsuccessful attempt to bring down power lines outside Bangkok with high explosives, which would have plunged much of Bangkok into darkness on that Saturday night?

Jack I won't turn a shopping topic into a discusion on "Who did what?'or Who said what? As after all I doubt if you were there, neither was I . So I guess it depends on which paper you read or your own personal interpretation of the events. Neither of which would seem to be reliable . I merely advised that the items were there for anyone who wishes to see . I drew no conclusions other than I could see they definitely weren't rubber bullets .Perhaps you might like to start another topic on who is right or who is wrong .It might be interesting as you seem to have some insider information . :-"

So Val, what conclusions should we draw from your statement "the army fired on its own citizens"?

Despite the fact that it is obviously true, it seems to open up a whole area, which as you say, is perhaps a topic for further discussion.

It therefore begs the question - why introduce it into a "shopping topic"?

would you support that
While I don't care much for the current US president, he was elected by the people. There was nothing nefarious about the election process -- unlike in Thailand where it is clearly evident that orders from on high instructed the constitutional courts to keep scratching off incumbents until the right flavor was achieved. Nothing democratic about that process at all. And that is precisely the red's beef. The PM was installed, not elected.

Anyway, while midterm elections impact all of congress it only impacts 1/3 of the senate and 34/50 governors. Means nothing to the president. Not quite the same.

No, I wouldn't support it.
